Who Is It For?
Intense pulsed light treatment works best on patients with white to light brown skin tones. It is ideal for the treatment of:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Birthmarks and freckles
- Stretch marks
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Rosacea
- Broken blood capillaries or spider veins
- Scars
- Unwanted dark hair
- Uneven skin pigmentation and age spots
- Sun damage
How Does It Work?
IPL therapy targets cells with colour. The IPL system emits high-intensity pulses of light which are then converted into heat energy causing micro-damages to the target cells. Your body will expel the damaged and unwanted cells naturally. This treatment can penetrate deeper to the second layer of skin, the dermis, without affecting the top layer of skin, the epidermis.
The Benefits
- No downtime or recovery period required
- Can be used on multiple areas of the body
- Little to no discomfort
- Fast and gentle treatment
- Lasting results
What to Expect
After carefully cleansing the treatment area, your skin care specialist will apply a cooling gel. You will be required to wear protective eyeglasses during treatment. The pulses of light should not be painful, but many patients report that it feels like being snapped with a rubber band against your skin. Treatment is fairly fast, depending on the size of the treatment area, and may take 30-90 minutes. Following treatment you may experience some slight redness and increased sensitivity. Most patients experience visible results after just one treatment, but for optimal outcomes 3-5 treatments at intervals of 1 month are ideal.
